The Earl’s Club is classic club sandwich: turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomato, with the addition of Swiss cheese and Earl’s sandwich sauce in place of mayonnaise. It doesn’t sound like anything spectacular, but Earl’s execution really makes this sandwich.
On top of their delicious bread you will find turkey layered on both the top and bottom of the slices, which have been given a light layer of sandwich sauce, creating a much meatier feel to the sandwich. In between those two sandwich layers are their addictive bacon, lettuce, tomato (which was a bit on the green side this visit), and perfectly melted Swiss.
I will say the sandwich was a tad on the salty side, possibly from the sandwich sauce; more so than the other sandwiches I’ve had, but it was far from being unpleasant. Otherwise the filling-to-bread ratio on this sandwich was perfect. Each bite was balanced with some of each ingredient.
It’s no surprise that a classic sandwich is done so well here. Typically every club sandwich I’ve had in the past isn’t too far off from, for example, the one I had at The Plaza Restaurant. Nothing wrong with it, and a perfectly good sandwich. At Earl of Sandwich, however, it’s one I look forward to ordering again.
