A Look at the New Starbucks Coffee Locations at Downtown Disney

Two Starbucks Coffee locations opened recently at Downtown Disney: a walk-up counter service-style shop in the Marketplace tucked into World of Disney, and a full cafe at West Side.

Both locations feature Frappucinos, coffee, espresso, tea and several items in between. They also serve Bistro Boxes, sandwiches, and an assortment of pastries which can be heated.

I’m not a coffee drinker, but it was crazy humid even at 9:30am. I love the Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher, so I ordered one to help bring my temp down. The barista spelled my name right AND even asked if there was an “h” on the end! πŸ˜€ No Tara or Kara for me today! Sorry, the berry sort of hides it.

Heading to West Side, we have the full cafe. Personally, I like the design of the building. One thing I think that was well done was how well the two locations fit in to their surroundings. Marketplace’s Starbucks still fits the feel of the building with a relatively understated marquee, while West Side’s modern feel fits many of the facades that have been built up over the years. I think it’s much more pleasant to look at than the old Haagen-Dazs/Wetzels Pretzels building (which now have large kiosk-sized locations on the side of Disney Quest). Note this location doesn’t open until 10am, while Marketplace’s opens at 8am.

starbucks-downtown-disney-west-side-2I love the tree incorporated into the building!

The interior is spacious, with high ceilings andΒ  lots of warm wood paired with a slightly industrial feel of black metal. The image below was taken from the main entrance. There’s a room off the right side from here.

Walking into the room, you’ll find several seats and tables. It was already pretty bustling; there was even a person with a laptop, just like at your Starbucks at home! πŸ˜‰ The location also features an outdoor patio.

Here’s a view from the opposite corner from the above photo. There’s a separate ordering station here where you will find Starbucks’ Reserve coffee line and Clover brewing system.

There is an interactive chalkboard to the left of the brown cushion in the photo above. I imagine this will be fun for younger ones while mom and dad enjoy a cup of coffee!

I know many avid coffee fans are happy for these additions to Downtown Disney. While I don’t drink coffee, I don’t mind being able to grab a freshly-made Refresher once in a while. I’m sure I’ll be stopping in more often, especially once the garage is done and parking isn’t so insane. If you’re planning on a trip to Downtown Disney, be sure to get there early to preserve your sanity!

Will you be visiting the new Starbucks locations at Downtown Disney?

  1. nope. not going even if i need caffeine. tired of all the chains now at wdw. even if it’s dtd. Enough.

  2. Unfortunately, Disney doesn’t have much unique merchandise to fill all that square footage. πŸ˜‰ I’m looking forward to the Co-Op opening soon though! That’s exactly the type of thing Disney needs more of. Hopefully there will be demand enough for it that we see more. πŸ™‚

  3. It doesn’t have to be unique, it just should not be a Mcdonalds, Starbucks, Chic fill, tgi Friday franchise. Kwim? It’s cheap/cheasy. What’s the coop ? Thanks Sarah. Love the blog, love your photos.

  4. The Co-Op is going to be a collection of six boutiques in the former Team Mickey space: http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2014/03/spotlight-on-disney-centerpiece-coming-to-marketplace-co-op-at-downtown-disney-marketplace-in-2014/ Check out some of the items at the Centerpiece boutique!

  5. I think the Starbucks will be a good addition as it’s a very popular chain that can give you a buzz to help get people through the day however I enjoy the Disney coffee quite a lot and think a small Disney Coffee kiosk could have worked just fine. πŸ™‚ -A

  6. I don’t drink coffee, but I love their Refreshers! You can still get “plain old coffee”/Joffrey’s almost everywhere else as well, so you’re not stuck paying the higher prices at Starbucks if you don’t want to. Thanks for commenting! πŸ™‚
