Earl of Sandwich’s Buffalo Chicken Sandwich

So not too long ago, I managed to snag a Limited Time Fajita Chicken Sandwich for which I hadn’t seen an email announcement or other advertisement. A week later, the new Limited Times were released and featured a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and a BBQ Pulled Pork, the latter of which we’ve seen before.

I totally neglected to buy a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Cookie, which I was interested in trying, so all I got was the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. The sandwich is comprised of grilled chicken, buffalo sauce, diced celery, and  bleu cheese dressing. It looks decent in the picture.

That bread in the photos appears a bit longer than in reality. Anyway…

So, the chicken was moist. That’s the one good thing I can say. And it wasn’t just because this thing was LOADED with sauces. I managed two bites before wrapping it back up to bring home to see if Matt wanted to give it a try. It was just lackluster. I also forgot this was supposed to have “bleu” cheese dressing because I thought it was just Ranch.

Do you see the celery? It’s as pale as the chicken, and about as “tender,” too. I think I can spy two pieces of it in the photo.

In all honesty, I wasn’t expecting much from a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. I guess it met my expectations, but it underwhelmed at the same time. Some more vibrant celery and actual blue cheese crumbles would have improved this sandwich greatly. If you’re going for one of the Limited Times, the BBQ Pulled Pork is probably the better bet, even though I have not tried this year’s version (and it’s likely it hasn’t changed from last year). I’d recommend sticking with a favorite over the Buffalo Chicken. If you’re craving that Buffalo wing flavor, just go get some wings.

  1. I love pretty much anything buffalo chicken but this looks totally soggy! It looks like a bunch of mush between two pieces of bread. It seems like a lot of places think in order to make a good buffalo chicken dish, just slather a bunch of buffalo sauce and dressing on it. Forget flavor or balance, right? Oh well, I guess it makes us appreciate the good ones even more!

  2. A case of expectations versus reality based on the promo pics. Sometimes less is more, right? 🙂

  3. That sandwich doesn’t sound like my cup of tea.
I tried the Reese’s cookie last week at the Anaheim Earl’s. Unreal!
I went back for 2nd one, but my wife insisted on sharing that one.
I’ll probably stay married though. Probably……

  4. Yeah, there are other sandwiches I would have preferred over the Buffalo, but it’s one I never had before so I figured I’d give it a try. I like wings and spicy food (well, this wasn’t really spicy), but the execution was a saucy mess. Matt ate the leftovers for lunch and thought it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was.

  5. I got the cookie and reviewed it for an upcoming post! Spoiler: it is delicious.

  6. oh whoops not an upcoming post. my most recent one lol. anyways. cookie, chocolate, peanut butter. win.

  7. Can’t wait to hear what you thought!

  8. And just saw the post lol! I’ll definitely pick one up next visit to DTD! 🙂
