Lunch at Electric Umbrella

Not much has changed to the menu at Electric Umbrella since my last visit to the Epcot restaurant almost a year ago, when I ordered the French Dip Burger. Entree prices remain unchanged, however, the Hand-tossed Caesar with Chicken has been replaced by an Energy Salad with Roasted Chicken, and its price has been upped by $2.

Sodas are still $2.99 with unlimited free refills (RFID has not been added here yet). The Slushies are new to the menu, Dasani is 25 cents more, coffee, hot tea, and hot cocoa are up by 10 cents, and Beso del Sol Sangria has been replaced by the pricier Strawberry Margarita and Pina Colada. Desserts are up 10-40 cents, and the Kids’ Cheeseburger has received a 50 cent bump.

I had been wanting to try the Sausage and Pepper Sandwich for a while, which replaced the Meatball Sub a couple of years ago, and finally stopped by on my way out of the park. The sandwich features Italian Sausage Chunks, Peppers, Onions, Tomato, Provolone Cheese and is served with Grapes or French Fries, of which I chose the latter.

The provolone comes melted over the entire top of the sandwich.

I either didn’t pay much attention to the description or misinterpreted what was meant by Italian Sausage “Chunks.” The sausage was ground Italian sausage that roughly formed into, well, chunks. Although not link sausage sliced into chunks, the flavor was okay.

Peppers, onions, and tomato sauce were ample, and the sauce soaked a bit into the bread. It was a bit tricky and messy to eat as a sandwich, so I opted for a knife and fork and skipped a lot of the bread.

Yup. Those are fries, and they were fine.

Overall, the Sausage and Pepper Sandwich was okay for what it was. It’s by no means something to go out of one’s way for, but if you just don’t want another Disney burger (though their French Dip Burger is perfectly fine), it’s a nice change of pace. I also recommend the Vegetarian Flatbread. The Veggie Naan Wich has been on my radar to try, but every time I swing by Electric Umbrella to check out the menu, I’d always rather have something else. Even now, the Energy Salad is more appealing. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens. 🙂

Have you ordered the Sausage and Pepper Sandwich from Electric Umbrella? What were your thoughts on it?

  1. Hmmm. I think they may want to revamp the presentation on this one.

I worked at Electric Umbrella on my college program. The Veggie Flatbread was my favorite thing to eat on my break. I always thought that the Sausage and pepper sandwich was pretty good, however I did not like having to make them, it’s a very messy process. If you like the taste of health then the veggie naan is for you!

  3. I worked in a pizza shop when I was in college, and I know how messy it could be making meatball or sausage subs, mostly due to the sauce they sat in. Ah, memories! 🙂
