20th Anniversary Cookbook Coming to Epcot International Food & Wine Festival

2015 marks the 20th Anniversary of the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, and this year’s cookbook is celebrating that fact, according to the Disney Parks Blog (be sure to visit the site for the recipe for this year’s Pepper Bacon Mac and Cheese from the Farm Fresh Marketplace!).

This year’s cookbook is going to be heftier than previous recipe collections, as it also includes 50 pages of history, photos, and memories from the past 20 years. Recipes date back to 1996 and feature dishes that represent the festival since then. Epcot Executive Chef Gregg Hannon is bringing back some classic dishes to the menus, including pao de queijo (Brazilian cheese puffs), apple strudel in Germany, spicy chicken sausage with polenta in Canada and the lobster roll at Hops & Barley, all of which will be featured in the book. You’ll also find Canadian Cheddar Cheese soup, Belgian waffles with berry compote, and bo ssam from South Korea.

The festival runs for 53 days, from September 25-November 16, and you can visit Epcotfoodfestival.com for more official information.

Disney at Home: Boma’s Sambal

It’s been almost a year since I’ve done a Disney at Home post. I had been poring over my cookbooks and have found a few recipes I want to try, and there are a few on my list. After my lunch at Sanaa the other day, I stopped into Johari Treasures, the sundries shop at Animal Kingdom Lodge – Kidani Village. I spotted the ‘Cooking Safari With Mickey’ book that was released this spring and took a look through it. There, I spotted the recipe for Sambal that is served at Boma (located in the Animal Kingdom Lodge – Jambo House), and the ingredients resonated to what I had just enjoyed at Sanaa.

The recipe requires only four ingredients: sun-dried tomatoes, light brown sugar, chipotles in adobo, and coarse salt. Once the ingredients are measured out, it’s as simple as tossing everything into a food processor and combining. This spicy sauce takes about 5 minutes to make (not counting some resting time).

Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar Presents The Tahitian Terrace Diamond Luau

Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel will be hosting a special 60th anniversary celebration for the resort on August 10 and 11, according to the Disney Parks Blog. The site notes that “The sessions will include the Tahitian Terrace Tribute Show with Tahitian dancers; a historical overview by Imagineers; and tastes from the original menu of the “gone-but-not-forgotten” Tahitian Terrace tropical restaurant. Guests also receive two drink tickets good for non-alcoholic Tahitian Punch, Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration drink (with alcohol), wine or beer.”

Wine Tasting with Fess Parker Winery & Vineyard Coming to California Adventure Feb. 21-22

The Alfresco Tasting Terrace, located on the second floor of Golden Vine Winery at California Adventure, will premiere its Winemaker Events with Fess Parker Winery & Vineyard on February 21-22 at 11am and 2pm. Golden Vine Winery’s Chef Jorge Cruz, who joined Golden Vine after time at Club 33 and Steakhouse 55, has enjoyed creating the restaurant’s menu, which features tapas and an array of wine and wine flights. One of the guest favorites is the Tenderloin Sliders, and the recipe is featured on the Disney Parks Blog.

‘Cooking Safari With Mickey’ Cookbook to Debut This Spring

The Disney Parks Blog is reporting that a new ‘Cooking Safari With Mickey’ cookbook will debut this spring at Animal Kingdom. For the cookbook, Pam Brandon and chefs at Animal Kingdom and Animal Kingdom Lodge assembled a collection of recipes showcasing the cuisine of South Africa and India. There’s no note on the price as of this posting.

They also share a recipe for Spicy Durban-Style Chicken that is served at Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Kidani Village. This spicy dish features flavors such as jalapeño, chili powder, and cardamom.

New Kitchen Magic with Mickey Cookbook Available Now

Pam Brandon has been busy working with the Disney Chefs to create the latest Disney cookbook, which is out now, called Kitchen Magic With Mickey. According to her post on the Disney Parks Blog, the book features 100 of some of the most requested recipes from the Disney parks and resorts, as well as the Disney Cruise Line. The price for the book was not mentioned in her article, and as of this posting, it was not available at DisneyStore.com.

A sampling of the recipes includes the Colette Champagne Cocktail from Remy, Smoked Buffalo from Victoria & Albert’s, Boo-Ya Chili from ESPN Club, and Cheesy Enchilada Soup from Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Café.

Grand Californian’s Gingerbread House

Over at the Disney Parks Blog, they provided us with a sneak peek of the brand-new gingerbread house at the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at Disneyland Resort. We recently took at look at Grand Floridian’s, so it’s definitely fun to compare the two!

The official opening for the display is November 27, and it was created by a team of 25 artists, engineers and bakers. A total of 1,400 hours are needed to bake and create the edible portion, and it measures 7 ½ feet tall and 12 feet wide. Here’s a look at the ingredients:
